Mnemba Island
Mnemba Island has warm white sands and clear turquoise seas; an unspoilt natural haven of absolute privacy and peace. Located off the north-eastern tip of Zanzibar this extraordinary island is surrounded by coral reefs protected within a Marine Conservation Area.
With powder-soft sand and a cool woodland centre, Mnemba Island is a natural sanctuary for wildlife, and an ideal exotic holiday and honeymoon destination. The island centre is a cool pine forest, and the eastern coastal aspect feels quite wild and unkempt despite its diminutive size. A walk around its 1.5km coastline is pleasantly lonely, invigorating for all the natural intrigue of forest and beach as well as the coral reefs, vibrant with colour and life.
Turtle season occurs between April and August even though layings can occur at anytime of the year. These prehistoric creatures can be seen laying their eggs on the islands beaches. Dolphin pods are commonly seen throughout the year. Nature walks around the island a wide variety of sea birds whilst snorkelling amongst the coral reefs introduces one to the magnificent colourful aquatic world.
